Veteran punk bands the Buzzcocks, Pere Ubu, the Fall, the Dickies, and a one group still to be announced will hit the States beginning in October under the traveling name "The Inertia Tour." The tour will visit 22 cities in the span of a month. Venues have not been confirmed, but the itinerary is as follows:
October 14-15 Montreal 16-17 Toronto 18 Detroit 22 Boston 23-24 New York City 25 Washington, D.C. 29 Cincinnati 30 Cleveland 31 Chicago November 1 Milwaukee 4-5 Vancouver 6-7 Seattle 8 Portland 11-12 San Francisco 13-14 Los Angeles
- PIXIES Tribute to Become a Reality
"Where Is My Mind: A Tribute To The Pixies" is currently being compiled by the California label Glue Factory. Such artists as Weezer, Letters To Cleo, and Superdrag will be contributing tracks. Tenatively, the album is scheduled to hit stores in early '99. At present, the track lisiting for the album is as follows:

- Hutchence Solo Album Delayed Further
The ensuing legal squabbles over the estate of Michael Hutchence, the INXS singer who committed suicide in November '97, may delay the release of the late singer's solo album by years... not months or weeks. Hutchence recorded the album with former Gang Of Four member Andy Gill, Bomb The Bass' Tim Simenon, and Black Grape's Danny Saber. Due to be released in '98, the singer's untimely death and the subsequent legal warfare has left the album in limbo. Question still remains over the material INXS recorded before Hutchence's death.
- Everyone Wants KORN
Lollapalooza victimized band, KORN, are back from the infirmary and ready to do damamge. The band's latest offerring, "Follow The Leader," went straight to the top of the Billboard album chart, selling over 260,000 copies. This bumped the Beastie Boy's "Hello Nasty" to the number 2 slot.
- Go Window Shoping with Robyn Hitchcock
The Robyn Hitchcock concert film, Storefront, will be debuted in New York City in November '98. The venue has yet to be determined for the debut of the film directed by Jonathan Demme and shot in an actual New York City storefront. Aside from this, Hitchcock is also putting the finishing touches on a new studio album, tentatively titled "Jewels For Sophia," which is set for release sometime in '99.
- Eddie Vedder's New Vocation?
According to the PEARL JAM fanpage five horizons (www.fivehorizons.com), a fan was sheared by the band's lead singer, Eddie Vedder, during their show in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The fan reportedly sported a Billy Ray Cyrus hair style and managed to run on stage whilst the band performanced "Rearview Mirror." Vedder spotted the fan as he was being lead away by band and venue security and yelled, "No, bring him back!" When security conceded to the singer's wishes, Vedder chided the fashion-challenged fan with, "Either you want it short, or you want it long--make up your f***ing mind!" The fan granted Vedder's demand and allowed the singer to cut his hair with a Swiss army knife.
- No Phoenix Fest for NYC
New York will NOT be receiving the Phoenix Festival at favoured festival site, Randall's Island, in mid-September. The UK version that had been scheduled for this summer has also been canceled. New Order, Prodigy, Primal Scream, Chemical Brothers, and Fun Lovin' Criminals were just a handful of acts discussed to headline the fest. No reasons were given for the two cancellations.
- Ian Astbury Goes Solo
Former CULT frontman, Ian Astbury, has completed his long-awaited solo album, tentatively titled "Transcendental Youth Cult." The album will include 10-12 tracks, including a newly recorded version of a previously unreleased CULT song called "The Witch." The album is, set for a spring '99 release. Astbury plans to take the new album on the road and is reportedly putting together a live band for a world tour.
- Depeche Mode Hit the Road
